WZF celebrated 40th anniversaryZZF subsidiary held anniversary dinner at GPF 2007 / WZF receives Pets International Award / Prestigious US Department of Commerce award to ZZF President Klaus Oechsner 23. January 2007 Langen - Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe GmbH (WZF) celebrated its 40th anniversary with customers and partners at the Global Pets Forum 2007 in Copenhagen: “The success of WZF and especially its world-leading exhibition Interzoo is unequalled in the global pet industry,” said Reinder Sterenborg, Director of InterMedium Publishers/Pets International, congratulating ZZF in his laudation at the forum.
In addition to Interzoo, he praised some of the many other business fields of the subsidiary of the German Pet Trade & Industry Association (ZZF), such as the DeZooFa, the European exhibition for “innovative companies that would like to take care of the German market in a slightly more personal environment”, the magazine zza and the commitment to the training of pet specialists. The press and public relations work of WZF in Germany creates a considerable contribution towards making pet lovers aware of the fascination of keeping pets in a species-appropriate way and strengthening public trust in the industry. In recognition of WZF’s 40 years of success, Sterenborg presented Herbert Bollhöfer, General Manager of WZF, with a special Pets International Award in the form of a painting by Toos van Holstein.
“In its role of promoting quality standards in the industry and making a vital contribution to the successful development of the national and international pet market, WZF is to the best of my knowledge unique in the global pet world,” said Jörg Marci, Director of Hagen Germany, in his honorific speech at the anniversary dinner. Hagen is one of the most important exhibitors at the Interzoo exhibition. Marci called Interzoo “one of the most important communication platforms”.
He outlined the successful development of the exhibition from its beginnings on wallpapering tables at ZZF congresses in the 50s to its growth and internationalization in the Wiesbaden Rhein-Main halls and at the Nuremberg venue from 1988 onwards: "There were 1,275 exhibitors from 56 countries at Interzoo 2006, which means an international share of 75 per cent. The share of visitors from abroad has risen to 58 per cent. Interzoo has therefore confirmed its status as leading exhibition for the global pet industry once again.”
Bernd Diederichs, Managing Director of NürnbergMesse, also congratulated WZF on its anniversary and expressed his thanks for the extremely successful cooperation over the past 19 years.
WZF welcomed representatives of the US Department of Commerce as special guests of honour at its anniversary dinner: Keith Curtis, the Senior Commercial Officer at the US Embassy in Sweden, paid tribute to ZZF President Klaus Oechsner for his services to the promotion of German-American trade and presented him with the “Certificate of Appreciation for Achievement in Trade”. This certificate is the highest level of recognition and gratitude that can be granted by the Foreign Trade Service of the US Department of Commerce and has only been awarded six times in Germany. Curtis emphasized in his speech that Oechsner in his capacity as ZZF President and WZF Committee Chairman has supported the intensification of contacts between the German and US pet industry and a strong presence of US companies at Interzoo for many years.
