DeZooFa 2009 has been cancelled

The general conditions in the Rhein-Main-Hallen and the economic situation are insufficient for a positive further development of the DeZooFa / WZF and ZZF concentrate on the vocational and further training of the pet trade and lobbying activities / Organiser considers the evaluation of a new concept

Wiesbaden - After thorough deliberations, the organiser of the DeZooFa, the Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe GmbH (WZF) has decided to cancel the DeZooFa 2009. The representative of the WZF, Rolf-Dieter Gmeiner justifies the decision as follows:

„Seen from the point of view of the organiser, the general conditions in the Wiesbaden Rhein-Main-Hallen facing a personal and organisational change, are insufficient for good fair results in 2009 and a positive development of the DeZooFa. In addition, the German retail trade currently experiences a difficult economic situation.

Furthermore, the WZF and the Zentralverband Zoologischer Fachbetriebe e.V. (ZZF), the technical non-commercial initiator and sponsor of the DeZooFa feel responsible to concentrate on other tasks in the near future: Topical circumstances on the European and German level force to effect a strengthened concentration on the vocational and further training of the pet trade and on the lobbying activities in Berlin and Brussels, those activities being of existential importance for the branch. What troubles the ZZF in particular is the fact that the import restrictions of animals and the raising of „positive lists“ are intensively discussed on the European level.

The organiser of the DeZooFa considers to evaluate a new concept for the fair, ajusted to the modified needs of the German pet market."
